This is a an easy cassava bread recipe to try if you’re just getting into baking and breadmaking. This bread comes together with just five ingredients, Lotus Cassava & Wheat Flour, salt, yeast, water and vegetable shortening. If you’re looking for an easy alternative to plain white, homemade bread this is definitely a recipe to try.
Cassava Bread Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 cups Lotus Cassava & Wheat Flour
- 1 1/3 cups warm water
- 2 tsp yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp vegetable shortening (at room temperature)
Method
- Add water, yeast and salt in a bowl then combine with a whisk.
- Add Lotus Cassava & Wheat Flour then mix until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Transfer dough to your work surface then knead for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Flatten dough then spread vegetable shortening onto dough. Combine until fully incorporated.
- Knead dough for an additional five minutes until smooth.
- Place in a bowl then cover and allow to rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubles in size.
- Remove dough from bowl and shape into a loaf.
- Place on a baking tray with parchment paper then cover and allow to rise for an additional 25 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Add a tray with boiling water to the bottom of your preheated oven at 350 degrees.
- Place baking tray into oven and bake for approximately 30 minutes.
- Place baked loaf onto a cooling rack and allow to cool for at least 15 minutes.
