Even though I write recipes and publish them to the website on a weekly basis, somehow I struggle with the idea of calling myself a writer. As a matter of fact, I still would not describe myself as one. However, here I am, making an announcement. I have written my first recipe book (insert fanfare here). At the beginning of this year I had a conversation with Patrice aka Afrobella and I made a promise that I would work on the book this year. I’m not going to lie, I procrastinated right up until November and my plan was to just apologize to her at the end of the year for not keeping my promise. Its a good thing that I still have a somewhat functional conscience so I felt bad about not keeping my promise and started the process of putting the book together.
So here we are. One month and a whole lot of overcoming impostor syndrome later, I present to you Mmhmm – Guava Season. The first of what I hope to be a series of cookbooks from yours truly. It was important for me to go with Guava Season as the first installment. And just to clear things up, this is not a cookbook with Guava recipes. Guava Season refers to something very specific in local parlance. To find out more, please read the book 🙂
Oh by the way, the ebook is totally free for download. I contemplated charging for it but the anti-capitalist in me could not reconcile calling an ebook Guava Season, then charging money for it. So feel free to download and share it with family and friends. My only ask would be to support us by subscribing to our YouTube channel and following us on social media.
Can’t say thank you enough to Patrice & Danielle for their support in helping me to complete this. I appreciate you.
Enjoy!

Thank you so much for sharing these recepies. My family is Indian, and I grew up in Atlanta- so I feel connected to west african food from both of the food traditions I grew up with- a lot of the same spices, ingredients, and cooking techniques! Im making your black eyed peas and rice right now 🙂
