Cooking For Scout Camp

September 12, 2024 by baidawi Leave a Comment

Scout camp. The camp that allowed me to better my cooking skills. On the day my team was assigned to make food, our menu was quite impressive. For breakfast we were tasked to make, fried egg, also, fried sausages and sada roti. For lunch, we made orchro rice curry fish and stew chicken. It was well enjoyed experience. It was fun and interesting. But one thing I learnt was that cooking was not easy.

Growing up, I used to sometimes watch my mom cook and say to myself, this looks easy, but was I wrong. Sometimes, cooking can be exhausting, especially when you have to cook 2-3 meals a day. Overall, it was an excellent challenge and it was also fun to make meals for the other campers to consume and enjoy.

Now lets get to the cooking process. For the breakfast dish, we first chopped up some ingredients, such as: pimento, chadon beni, onion, sausages, potato and many more. Secondly, we kneaded the flour for the sada roti. Third, we fried the eggs, sausage and the aloo. Lastly, we placed the dough that was resting for a while, on the tawah. The end results was a very delightful meal that everyone enjoyed.

For lunch, we started of by cutting up the vegetables and seasonings we need. We tossed them into the pot and added in the important ingredients, rice and ochro. We constantly, mixed the rice and added water, coconut milk and Maggie’s soup seasoning. After that we prepared the chicken and the fish, which tempted us with its amazing aroma. In the end, we got a very delicious meal.
