Garden Focaccia
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 3/4 tbsp yeast
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 2tbsp salt
- 4 cups flour
- Extra olive oil for topping
- Vegetables eg olives, capers, peppers, herbs for topping Garden Focaccia (optional)
Directions
- Place water, sugar and yeast in a bowl to activate the yeast. Leave for about 10 minutes or until it is bubbly.
- Add in oil, flour and salt. Mix until a loose dough is formed. Set aside to rise in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled in size.
- After an hour transfer onto a half sheet tray or a large pan with parchment.
- Spread the dough out evenly in the pan and dimple it with your fingers. A little extra olive oil helps with stretching the dough and having it stay off your fingers
- Top the focaccia as desired with toppings.
- Allow the bread to proof again for about half hour
- Bake the bread at 415 f or 212C for about 25 minutes or until golden.
- Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool a little before cutting and serving.
