Easy Homemade Bread Recipe
This timeless homemade bread is a simple, delicious and easy enough recipe for beginners and dependable enough to take through to generations.
Yield: 1 loaf
Ingredients:
- 3 cups Cuisine All Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp Cuisine Genuine Demerara Brown Sugar
- ½ tbsp. dry instant yeast
- ½ cup hot water
- ½ cup Cuisine Full Cream Milk
- 1 tbsp vegetable shortening
Method:
- In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients.
- In a separate large bowl combine the milk, water and shortening.
- Dump the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
- Using a spatula, mix the ingredients together until a ball of dough forms.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surfaced and knead until smooth. This should take about 8 to 10 minutes.
- Transfer the smooth ball onto greased bowl. Cover with a tea towel and allow to rise for 1 hour, or until the dough has doubled in size.
- Once the dough has doubled in size, punch the air out of the dough and transfer to a greased loaf pan. Allow to rest for 30 minutes.
- Place in a 375ºF oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Allow the bread to cool for 45 minutes.
- Slice and serve.
