Crispy Fried Chicken Strips

Fried chicken strips or chicken tenders is one of my favorite liming foods or “cutters”. I love a homestyle, well seasoned fried chicken, preferably boneless for ease of eating and enjoyed with a mixture of soy sauce, ketchup and pepper. Try these crispy fried chicken strips that are well seasoned and marinated in yogurt.  Wash them down with a cold beer… Perfection!

Mouthwatering crispy fried chicken strips, seasoned to perfection with a blend of herbs & spices. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Chicken & Marinade

  • 2 lb chicken breast cut into bite sized pieces
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp msg
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 4 tbsp dried thyme
  • 4 tbsp yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • oil for frying

Batter

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup corn starch
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp msg
  • 2 tbsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Combine dried herbs and spices then rub into chicken.
  • Add yogurt and lemon juice to seasoned chicken.
  • Combine well then marinate overnight or for at least one hour.
  • Thaw chicken to room temperature.
  • For dredging add 2 cups of flour to a sheet pan or bowl.
  • Combine one cup of flour and one cup of cornstarch along with salt, msg and black pepper to another sheet pan or bowl.
  • Dredge chicken in plain flour then shake off excess.
  • Dip chicken into egg wash then shake off excess.
  • Dredge chicken in seasoned flour and cornstarch then shake off excess.
  • Place battered chicken on a wire rack then repeat process until all chicken pieces are well coated.
  • Heat up oil in a deep frying pan or wok.
  • Fry chicken in batches for 2 minutes then remove from oil.
  • Repeat until all pieces are fried.
  • Return chicken to oil in batches then fry until golden brown.
  • Drain on wire rack.
  • Serve & Enjoy!
