Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all purpose Flour
  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp/ one 11g packet of instant yeast
  • 1 3/4 cup of warm water (105F)
  • 2 tbsp/ 1 oz melted unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp / 1oz melted vegetable shortening
  • Melted butter for brushing

Method:

  1. In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients
  2. Combine shortening and butter in a separate bowl.
  3. Add 1/2 of the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir together using a rubber spatula.
  4. Add remaining wet ingredients into the mixture and using hands, work into a ball.
  5. Turn dough onto a well-floured surface and knead for seven minutes or until ball is smooth.
  6. Place dough into an oiled bowl. Cover loosely with a tea towel or plastic wrap.
  7. Let rise in a warm and dry place, away from direct sunlight for 45 minutes or until the dough has doubled in size.
  8. Once dough has doubled in sized, punch down onto the dough to expel the excess air and form into a ball.
  9. Evenly divide the dough into 10 pieces.
  10. Using hands, shape each each into a sphere and place into a greased baking dish, 1 inch apart. Brush each piece with melted butter.
  11. Cover baking dish loosely with a tea towel or plastic wrap and allow dough to proof for 20 minutes.
  12. Brush each piece once more with melted butter and place in a 400F oven.
  13. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

  1. This recipe is legit! I have made it just as says and got bakery level hops. I have also dabbled with wheat, rolled oats, garlic and cheese combinations over the last few months, and each time they go quicker than a quart from the bread van.
Put a copyright or patent or whatever you get for recipes on this; it’s sold gold.

  2. I am going try your recipe but i’ll add a little wheat and let you know the out come.
