Citrus Glazed Banana Bread

Citrus Glazed Banana Bread

Ingredients – Banana Bread

  • 3/4 cupwhite sugar
  • ½cup butter, melted
  • 2eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Angostura orange bitters
  • 1 ½cups all-purpose flour
  • 1teaspoon baking soda
  • ½teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest, fresh or dried (optional)
  • ½cup sour cream
  • ½cup chopped walnuts
  • 2medium bananas, mashed

Ingredients – Citrus Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon Angosturs orange butters
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and line 9×5 inch loaf pan with parchment paper
  2. Stir sugar and melted butter together in a large bowl. Add eggs and Angostura orange bitters; mix well.
  3. Combine flour, orange zest, baking soda, and salt; stir into butter mixture until smooth. Fold in banana slices, sour cream, and walnuts; transfer into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean, about 1 hour. Cool completely, remove from pan, drizzle with glaze and serve.
  5. For orange glaze, combine all ingredients mix well, add additional orange juice if necessary to get to a consistency where it can drizzle.
