Steak and potatoes is a simple dish that requires a few key steps to ensure the perfect outcome every time, a classic dish that is delicious and satisfying. In this post I will share a few tips I picked up along the way on how to achieve the perfect steak.
Steak & Potatoes
Ingredients
- 1 rib eye steak
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 medium sized potatoes, quartered & boiled
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- salt & black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Method
- Thaw out steaks if frozen and allow to sit at room temperature
- Using paper towels, remove excess moisture from steaks
- Apply olive oil to steak on both sides
- Season one side of the steak with salt and black pepper
- Preheat a cast iron skillet on medium heat
- Add steak on pan and sear for four minutes, seasoned side down
- Season the other side of the steak
- Add butter and garlic
- After four minutes, flip steak and cook for another four minutes
- Continue to baste with butter and garlic
- Remove from pan and allow to rest for 5 minutes
- Add parboiled potatoes to pan
- Season with rosemary and black pepper
- Cook until each side is caramelized
- Serve and enjoy
