Market Run

I try to go to the market as often as possible, preferably on a Saturday morning. For me, going to the market is an enjyoable experience. I don’t see it as a chore or a hassle but a relaxing outing where I get to interact with vendors and buy fresh ingredients for recipes.

Some might label this as weird but I would choose going to the market over a lime in a bar or worse yet, a club. Market runs are my kinda lime. And for those who may be interested in saving a few dollars on their grocery bill, I decided to do this post where I highlight the prices of a few items.

Currently pumpkin is the cheapest thing in the market. At $1 per pound you can purchase a lot of pumpkin and try your hand at various recipes, we have quite a few here on the website.

Pimento & Scotch Bonnet Pepper 8 for $5

Bhagi, $6 a bundle. $10 for two bundles

Lettuce, $5 a head

Potato $3 a pound

Mint $10 a bundle

Thyme, Chadon Beni, Parsley, Basil & Rosemary $5 a bundle

Chives $5 for two bundles.

Cinnamon, All Spice (Pimento) Cardamom $10

Pineapple $4 a pound

Passion Fruit 6 for $20

Baigan (Eggplant) – $6 a pound

Cauliflower $10 a pound

I believe in upholding this tradition of the weekend morning market run. It is especially important for young families looking for ways to save a dollar and manage the household budget.
