Grilled Fish Tacos

Although tacos are a Mexican treat, there are so many aspects of Fish Tacos that our Caribbean palettes love! With tender fish filet, spicy Mexican seasonings, sweet and spicy pineapple salsa and crunchy slaw, this dish is a whole party in your mouth! In this episode, Emily uses fresh ingredients and flavour packed products from Old El Paso to bring you this addictively delicious Grilled Fish Taco recipe. Grilled Fish Tacos with Spicy Mayo, Crunchy Slaw & Pineapple Salsa

Serves 4 

1  package of Old El Paso Flour Tortillas

Marinated Grilled Fish

  • 1 ½ lbs fish fillet ( Tilapia or Mahi Mahi will work best)
  • 3 tbsp of Trini Green Seasoning
  • 1 package of Old El Paso Taco Seasoning
  • 2 tbsp of lime juice
  • 3 tbsp of olive oil

Method:

  1. In a large bowl, toss the fish in green seasoning, taco seasoning, lime juice and olive oil.
  2. Allow to marinate for 2 hours or ideally overnight.
  3. Heat a grill on a medium flame. Place fish pieces onto the pan.
  4. Cook for 5 minutes on each side.

Crunchy Slaw

  • 2 cups of shaved cabbage
  • ½ c. cilantro, chopped or 2 tsp of shadon beni, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. lime juice
  • 2 Tbsp. pineapple juice
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Set aside and allow to marinate for an hour. 

Spicy Mayo

  • ½ cup mayo
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp of lime juice
  • 2 tsp of Old El Paso Chopped Green Chillies
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Mix all the ingredients and set aside.

Pineapple Salsa

  •  2 cups diced fresh pineapple
  •  1 cup diced sweet pepper
  •  1/2 cup chopped cilantro or 2 tsp of shadon beni
  •  1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  •  3 tablespoons finely chopped jalapeno pepper, stemmed and seeded
  •  1 clove garlic minced
  • 3 tsp of lime juice
  • 2 tsp of Old El Paso Chopped Green Chillies
  • 2 tsp of Old El Paso Jalepeño Slice, finely chopped
  •  Salt to taste
  • Combine all ingredients and set aside.

Assembly

  1. Heat the tortillas on a clean grill pan.
  2. Add fish, slaw and pineapple salsa.
  3. Drizzle spicy mayo over the ingredients.
  4. Enjoy!
