Baked Plantain Chips w Tomato Salsa

Homemade Oven Baked Plantain Chips with Fresh Tomato Salsa

Give the snack aisle a (much needed) break and simply make these delicious and easy baked plantain chips! Feel free to choose your own adventure and with the seasonings and spices that you want to add to personalize this nutritious snack. Trust us, this recipe is just as easy as opening a jar of store bought salsa, but you get to take all the credit. 


Oven Baked Plantain Chips 

Ingredients:

  • 2 large plantains 
  • 2 tablespoons of Cuisine Soyabean Oil 
  • 1 teaspoon of salt 
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper 

Optional chip seasoning suggestions: onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper. 

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 400F 
  2. Peel and thinly slice the plantains
  3. Toss in oil and salt 
  4. Evenly spread the sliced plantains onto a baking sheet prepared with wax paper 
  5. Place in oven for 10 minutes 

Fresh Tomato Salsa 

Ingredients:

  •  6 tomatoes, diced 
  • ½ bell pepper/ jalenpeño, diced 
  • 1 small onion, diced 
  • 2 shadon leaves, chopped 
  • 1 chili pepper, minced or 1 tsp of pepper sauce  
  • 1 tablespoon of lime/lemon juice 
  • 1 teaspoon of salt 

Method:

  1. Toss all ingredients together 
  2. Serve with chips 
  3. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator
