Rustic French Fries
Ingredients
- 3 large potatoes washed
- 1 tbsp baking soda
- 6 cups water
- 750 ml canola oil
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp roasted geera
Method:
- Cut fries to desired size and set aside in a bowl of water
- Bring 6 cups of water to a rolling boil
- Add baking soda then add potato and boil for 3 to 4 minutes
- Remove from water and allow to cool on a rack or tray (you can place them in the freezer as well)
- Combine salt, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder and roasted geera in a bowl then set aside
- Bring oil up to temperature (350 degrees) in a deep frying pan
- Fry fries for 4 to 5 minutes or until golden brown
- Drain excess oil then place in a bowl lined with paper towels
- Sprinkle seasoning on fries while still hot and toss
