Your favorite pizza place is closed but that doesn’t mean that you can’t satisfy your pizza craving. It’s time to elevate your pizza game with this simple and delicious homemade pizza recipe. Roll up your sleeves and get into the kitchen with Emily as she shows us how to gain that crispy thin crust, right at home. The secret to a fabulous pizza is in the sauce and crust and in this recipe we’ve got you covered!
Prep all your favourite toppings, fire up the oven and tawa, griddle or cast iron pan and get rollin! Emily’s favourite pizza is Hawaiian- style with lots of crispy bacon and Cuisine Pineapple Slices.
Homemade Pizza Dough
- 3 cups of Cuisine All Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 tsp of granulated sugar
- 2 tsp of instant yeast
- 1 cup warm water (110ºF)
Pizza Sauce
- 3 cups tomato sauce
- 3 tbsp of tomato paste
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- ¼ cup Dried Italian Seasoning
- 2 tsp salt
- 3 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp of pineapple juice (optional)
Toppings
- 3 cups of mozzarella cheese
- Your choice of vegetables, Cuisine Pineapple Slices, meats, herbs.
Method – Dough
- In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients.
- Gradually add warm water to the mixture and form into a dough.
- Once a ball is formed, transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead until smooth. This should take about 5 to 10 minutes.
- Transfer the dough into a greased bowl and cover with a towel or plastic wrap.
- Set aside for 1 hour or until the dough has doubled in size.
- Once the dough has doubled in size, punch down to expel the excess air.
- Divide the dough into three pieces.
- Roll each piece into a thin circle, about 1/8 inch in thickness.
- Heat a tawa or large cast iron pan over a medium flame. Transfer the dough onto the tawa and allow the base of the pizza to cook until brown. Remove from heat and set aside.
Method – Pizza sauce
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, sauté minced garlic in olive oil.
- Add dried Italian seasoning mix to garlic and olive oil mixture.
- Add tomato sauce, salt, sugar, balsamic, pineapple juice and tomato paste and stir in.
- Stir until the sauce just begins to bubble.
- Remove from heat and cool.
Method – Assembly
- Set your oven to the “broiler” setting and move the rack to second highest slot.
- Place the cooked crust onto a large baking tray.
- Spread sauce onto the cooked crust in a thin, even layer.
- Add mozzarella cheese and desired toppings.
- Place prepared pizza into the oven.
- Bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly. This should take about 5 to 6 minutes.
- Allow the pizza to set for 10 minutes before slicing.
NOTE: Please monitor your pizza closely while in the broiler to prevent burning.
